Description
This Scrap Metal Shredder (Dual Shaft) is designed for efficient first-stage shredding of light-to-medium metal scrap. The low-speed, high-torque dual-shaft system pulls material into the chamber and tears it into smaller pieces, helping you:
- reduce scrap volume for easier handling and transportation
- prepare scrap for magnetic separation / eddy current separation
- improve feeding consistency for downstream recycling equipment
HX-DS800 is our internal model number for this 800 mm chamber class shredder.
Key Specifications (HX-DS800)
- Product Type: Dual Shaft Scrap Metal Shredder (low-speed, high-torque)
- Model: HX-DS800
- Motor Power Options: 2×37 kW / 2×45 kW / 2×55 kW
- Chamber Length: 800 mm
- Throughput: 2–6 t/h
Capacity note: Actual throughput depends on scrap type, thickness, feeding method, target discharge size, and the complete recycling line configuration.
Suitable Scrap Materials
This metal shredding machine is commonly used for:
- Light steel scrap: sheet offcuts, stamping scrap, thin plate
- Aluminum scrap: profiles, mixed light aluminum, cast pieces (size-dependent)
- Copper & brass scrap: offcuts and mixed non-ferrous scrap
- Mixed metal scrap from workshops and recycling stations
If you send scrap photos and basic dimensions/thickness, we can recommend the best knife material and power option.
Why Choose Our Dual Shaft Scrap Metal Shredder
Below are practical manufacturing advantages that help reduce operating cost and improve reliability.
1) In-house blade manufacturing (cost advantage + stable quality)
We operate our own blade processing facility, enabling better control of machining accuracy and production schedule—supporting consistent quality and competitive pricing.
2) Reinforced chamber frame (mortise-and-tenon structure)
The shredding chamber frame uses a mortise-and-tenon style structural design for higher rigidity and durability under heavy load. (Reinforcement performance depends on configuration and working conditions.)
3) Verified blade material options (no “false grade” steel)
Knife material options include real M6V, H13, and Hardox 500, selected based on your scrap mix and wear requirements to extend service life.
4) Torque-protection connection reduces drivetrain damage
A unique nylon pin connection type helps protect the reducer and motors from sudden excessive torque, reducing unexpected failures and saving maintenance cost.
5) Efficient reducer choices (including planetary reducers on many builds)
For many configurations we adopt planetary gear reducers, offering better efficiency and lower energy loss compared with traditional hard-tooth-surface reducers, especially in long-duty applications.
How a Dual Shaft Scrap Metal Shredder Works
Two counter-rotating shafts equipped with knives grab and pull scrap into the chamber. The material is then torn and shreded into smaller pieces. Shredded output can be sent to:
- Conveyor + metal crusher – for further processing to maximize profit
- conveyor + stockpile
- magnetic separator (ferrous recovery)
- eddy current separator (non-ferrous recovery)
- secondary shredding / granulation (if smaller size is required)
Motor Power Selection (Quick Guide)
- 2×37 kW: lighter scrap, stable feeding, lower duty cycle
- 2×45 kW: mixed scrap, balanced for continuous work
- 2×55 kW: tougher scrap, thicker pieces, aiming for higher throughput within 2–6 TPH

FAQ
Q1: What affects the 2–6 TPH capacity?
Scrap material type, thickness, feeding continuity, blade wear/clearance, and target discharge size.
Q2: Can it shred both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap?
Yes. It is used for steel scrap and also aluminum/copper/brass scrap. Blade material selection should match your scrap to optimize wear life.
Q3: What output size will I get?
Output size depends on blade design and operating settings. Share your downstream needs (baling, separation, secondary processing) and we’ll match the setup.
Q4: Can you provide a complete recycling line?
Yes. We can recommend conveyors, metal crusher, magnetic separation, and eddy current separation solutions based on your capacity target and site layout.
